Crypto Savings

Transaction Round-Up Application

Cryptocurrency

Finance

App

The Problem:

Crypto Savings App aims to make cryptocurrency investing accessible to individuals with little to no knowledge of the crypto market. By rounding up transactions and automatically investing the spare change into diversified cryptocurrency portfolios, the app encourages users to start building their crypto savings effortlessly. Most crypto trading apps on the market required pre-existing knowledge or had confusing onboarding processes with terminology that was difficult to understand for a beginner.

The Solution:

A native application with in-depth onboarding which navigates the user to key areas of the application and gives simplified guidance as well as explanations of crypto terminology. The fixed navigation menu gives access to the 4 main areas of the application and prevents users from getting overwhelmed or confused. The implementation of gamification elements such as cash pots and goals lead to an increased engagement with the app. The inclusion of illustrations helps to give the app a more informal look and feel which promotes a more relaxed user experience.

The Process:

1.

Discovery Workshop

In the discovery workshop with the client we focused on the USP of this application and how we can reflect that in the UX and UI. We identified the key problem areas with apps already available such as lack of onboarding, complex terminology, and formal look and feel. We also gained an understanding of the target user group, which was 18-30 year olds with little to no experience with crypto trading, yet tech savvy and finance application experienced.

2.

User Stories

I created a number of user stories which outlined the most common journeys we anticipated the users would make. I looked at how I could minimise the steps they needed to take to achieve their end goal.

3.

System Flow Diagrams

From the user stories I was able to map out a high level system flow diagram. I also looked at how we could incorporate an in-depth onboarding process when the user opens the application for the first time (or actively accesses it from a menu).

4.

Use Cases and Acceptance Criteria

From the system flow diagrams I was able to create individual use cases with acceptance criteria which would outline how the user would perform key tasks within the platform. Some examples are; onboarding, linking a bank account, creating a cash pot, viewing investment portfolio, selling cryptocurrency, and pausing round-ups.

5.

Wireframes

Referring to the use cases and acceptance criteria, I created the wireframes for the application. I focused on implementing a fixed navigation menu that would breakdown the app into 4 key sections, resulting in a more efficient and understandable user experience.

6.

UI Designs and Prototype

Once the wireframes had been signed off I created the UI for the product. I created an interactive prototype in Adobe XD.
